5 Outside-The-Box Reasons Why You’re Gaining Weight

Make-Up Is Making You Fat!

Many things can cause weight gain, and yes we know eating chocolate and chips and salsa coupled with lack of exercise isn’t helping the cause, but what about some of the less obvious contributors?  Maybe if we cut out some of these smaller ones listed below, we could still eat our guacamole too!

1. Beauty Products -Obesogens – Can Make You Fat
New word? Obesogens are chemical compounds that disrupt normal development and balance of lipid metabolism, which in some cases, can lead to obesity!  Until now, 20 chemicals have been found responsible for making one fat, and 70% percent of our beauty products and household chemicals.
Instead of giving in to these statistics, try using natural beauty products without sodium laurel sulphate, phthalates, BPA, oxibenzone.  If you look up cosmeticdadtabase.com you can get a closer look at what’s hiding in your products. By the way girlfriend, you are beautifully and wonderfully made, just ask your Creator, Ps. 139:14.

2. Chemicals in Food Make You Fat
Certain chemicals found in some of our tastiest foods can make us fat.  They come in all different forms; natural compounds found in soy, artificial hormones fed to animals we consume, plastic pollutants found in packaging, chemicals added to processed foods, sprays on our produce. Read more. So what is our way around it?
Eat foods with less packaging and produce that is fresh, local, and organic. There are alternatives to many of our foods; instead of candy, eat a sweet apple or fresh pineapple. Instead of chips, eat air popcorn with a little salt and organic butter.  Go for iced green tea with vanilla and honey before the soda.

3.  Less Sleep Can Make Your Fat
study author Shahrad Taheri, a profess or of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in Doha, Qatar, suggests that skipping the pillow for just 30 little minutes per night could contribute to weight gain, and most specifically, Type 2 Diabetes +
Helpful little tips to get you to sleep include; turning off that little screen that messes with your body’s melatonin (hormone that helps control your sleep and wake cycles), sleep in the dark, hit the pillow the same time every night, and for heaven’s sake don’t go on social media right before bed.  Read something uplifting and encouraging, like the Bible (Is. 41:10, John 14:27, Ps. 46:1-3)

4.  Thinking Fat Thoughts Make You Fat
It’s no secret we can sabotage our emotional and mental health by our thoughts, but did you know it is believed that just by thinking about eating something scrumptious, makes us have a response in our bodies to start taking up glucose to use for energy, according to the National Institute for Physiological Sciences in Japan +.
If you find your mind is always wondering towards food, read or say Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” or Matt. 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

5.  Friends Can Make You Fat
It’s super hard to decline an invite when the ladies call for a night out, but helping call the shots as to where to go and at what time can make all the difference in your skinny jeans.  A New England Journal of Medicine declared that you can gain weight, or lose it, by the influence of your friends. In theory they concluded that if your friends eat big when out, you’ll follow suit.
Instead of siding with the study, make a goal to eat something before you go out (hard boiled egg, banana, cottage cheese) that is substantial enough to curb hunger.  You can tell your friends to hold you accountable, drink a large glass of water before your meal, eat your diner before 8PM, and don’t forget the scripture Phil. 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” when struggling with your goals.

RECAP
Take just a few minutes to actually look through your beauty products and kitchen cupboard and pitch the bad stuff.  Spend your quality time with friends who will really hold you accountable and encourage you.  And if you turn off technology and turn up your Bible ready before bed, you may find that not only will your jeans be a little less snug but you may sleep a little better too.
